About Us

In July 2008, Parks-4-Pups signed an Adopt-a-Park agreement with San Luis Obispo County Parks to build and maintain a fenced off-leash dog park in Templeton. The plan for Vineyard Dog Park received unanimous endorsements from TAAG (Templeton Area Advisory Group 5-0) and the SLO County Parks Commission (5-0) in June 2008. Our park officially opened on February 14, 2009.

Directions: From the 101 Freeway, exit at Vineyard Drive. Go 1.5 miles west. The dog park is located on the left/south side of the street.

The dog park design was created by LGA, an architectural firm under the leadership of Leonard Grant, based in Pismo Beach. The park is  about 1 acre in size and is cross fenced for separate “big dog” and “small dog”  play areas. The park construction and maintenance will be paid for by donations and loans from dog owners and local businesses.

Because our park is financed by donations and loans, we are asking park visitors to pay a $1 day use fee or an annual membership of $25 per year. Pro-rated half year membership is available after September 1st for $15.  Membership forms are available at the payment drop box located at the main park entrance and at all dog park events.  Visitors can waive the park fees by volunteering a minimum of 2 hours per month. Upon receipt of membership dues, you will receive a dog tag to display on your dog’s collar or leash.

Parks-4-Pups was formed in 2004 and is a project committee of SLOPOST (San Luis Obispo Parks, Open Space, and Trails Foundation), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Parks-4-Pups was the founding organization for Heilmann Dog Park in Atascadero and is active in coordinating popular community events such as Dog Splash Days, Dog Jog, Wiener Dog Races, Dogtoberfest, and Santa Paws. Parks-4-Pups has adopted parks and trails in Paso Robles and Templeton with volunteers providing litter pickup, trail maintenance, and dog walk bag dispensers.
